kempley gl18 2bp saturday 17th & sunday 18th march 2018 kempley 2018 - grand draw thank you to all who have purchased tickets for the grand draw, in aid of st edward's church and the kempley village hall trust. unfortunately, today's events had to be cancelled due to snow and the grand draw, planned for 5pm today has had to be re-arranged. the draw will now take place at our next village event, the kempley caf, this saturday, 24th march between 11am and 2pm in kempley village hall. thank you for your support - we hope the weather is kinder to us next year! the friends of kempley churches. promotor: rosalyn flook, little orchard, kempley, gl18 2bu. cancelled due to snow unfortunately, due to the snow we have had to cancel today's event (sunday 18th march 2018). thank you to those who braved the weather yesterday to join us in kempley. we look forward to welcoming you back next year. join us for a happy weekend in the country and help us to celebrate the 43rd anniversary of kempley . in 1975 four kempley ladies decided to organise teas on a specific weekend, to coincide with the native daffodils being in bloom, to raise money for the local church. later the name was changed to kempley , and the event has been very successful. the weekend is organised under the auspices of kempley pcc by a committee of local people each of whom organise different aspects of the event. come and see the wonderful displays of wild daffodils in the local woods and fields (some of which are designated sssis). organised walks leave the village hall at 10.00 am walk 1: 5 - 6 miles across daffodil meadows to st mary's church, then to greg's pit cider (for cider tasting) returning via awnell's farm (countryside restoration trust) to kempley 10.30 am walk 2: 5 - 6 miles across daffodil woodlands and meadows, dymock woods and kempley village for walks 1 & 2 we recommend to take a packed lunch or to have lunch in the village hall on return. 10:45 a.m. secret valley walk: 5 miles (optional shortcut to 3 miles) covering daffodil woodlands and meadows 2:00 p.m. local history walk & talk, about 1 mile for all walks we recommend stout walking shoes or boots, together with appropriate clothing. dogs are welcome on all walks but must be kept on a lead. free daff-and-ride minibus travels around key sites leaving the hall at approx. 45-minute intervals. maps of walks are available to purchase at st mary's church and at kempley village hall. information on the walks can be found at: www.kempleytardis.org.uk/daffodil-walks/ visit our two churches the exhibition in st edward's church will be concerned with the local men who lost their lives in wwi and wwii. st. mary's church will be open for visitors to view the ancient frescoes, wall paintings and other artefacts including the new visitor centre. refreshments coffees, lunches and teas are served each day in the village hall from 10.30am until 4.30pm. handicrafts, produce, plants and our dw draw tickets can also be obtained from the hall. free parking at owners' risk (donations welcome). all proceeds go to st edwards church and the kempley village hall restoration fund. the daffodil way can be walked independently on both days. see 'woodland walks' for details 'daff & ride' bus about every 45 minutes on a circular route starting from the village hall maps of walks are available from the following link: www.kempleytardis.org.uk/daffodil-walks/ is organised by an 'ad hoc' working party of local volunteers on behalf of the st edward's church pcc. all funds raised during the weekend are used for the benefit of the church, including the 'fabric fund', and the kempley village hall restoration fund. the friends of kempley churches , the kempley village hall trust, the second wednesday club and the parish council support the dw working party but none of these bodies has any moral, fiscal or legal responsibility for the event. here are pictures from march 2016 here are pictures from previous weekends updated jan 2018
